The Massillon Parks and Recreation Department, the support of a Recreational Trails Program grant completed the eight-mile Sippo Valley Trail from the northwest corner of the City to the Wayne County line. Rail-to-Trail volunteers completed the trail west to Dalton. Major parking and trail access is available in Massillon at “The Bottoms Park” at 6th St. NW and at Lincoln Park at 17th St. NW. Secondary access points with limited parking are available at the intersections of Bison Ave./ 27th St. NW, Kenyon Ave NW, Skyland Ave. NW, and Alabama Ave. NW.

The Sippo Valley Trail project included paving of an old Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad. Approximately 3.5 miles of the trail is paved with blacktop, with the remainder in crushed limestone. Thanks to the cooperation of the FiberCorr Company, easements were granted to extend the trail into Lincoln Park. In the fall of 2003, with additional funding from and RTP grant, the Sippo Valley Trail was connected to the Ohio & Erie Canal towpath recreational trail at Walnut Avenue via residential roads and a paved path through the Oak Knoll Medal of Honor Park.
