 Jackson Connector
back next

The Jackson Connector trail would be within Jackson Township.

The Jackson Connector would link to the Canal Corridor in the High Mill area. This area is a primary trailhead along the Canal Corridor due to its historic significance. wpe7.jpg (29022 bytes) It is recommended that the historic structures be preserved and the history of the mill and millrace be interpreted. A greenway and trail opportunity exists along the Mud Brook Creek to the Jackson Community Park complex, high school and township park along Fulton Road. This is a growing urban area with heavy traffic and considerable new commercial and residential development. It is recommended that the trail and greenway concept be utilized as a central organizing feature.

Walking, bicycling trails and green space connections can be used to provide a cohesive appearance to the area and to provide traffic-calming devices. Local groups have identified residential streets that could provide a hike and bike connection east and north through Lake Cable to the New Community Park off Mt. Pleasant. The northern connections are within a less densely populated section of the township. Greenways are recommended along an existing utility corridor, through a sand and gravel yard and cross country along existing farmland to the Timken plant on Mt. Pleasant. This greenway will require cooperative agreements with private landowners. Establishment of a multi-purpose hike/bike trail as well as a greenway would augment these existing land uses.
