 Hoover Park Connector
back next

The Hoover Park Connector is within North Canton and Plain Township.

East of Hoover High School, an east-west connector trail is proposed to link with a north-south trail along the Middle Branch of the NImishillen Creek. THis connector will include both on-road and off-road greenways. THe roadway connections will be along residential streets of North Canton and Plain Township.

The greenway is proposed to take advantage of large tracts that are presently undeveloped, or where residential development is anticipated. This will require cooperative agreements between developers and local communities to ensure open space areas are set aside for public access. At the center of this connector is Hoover Park and the relocated Hoover Historical Center.

A portion of the trail was constructed by Mckinley Development as an amenity for the Washington Square development. Construction from Washington Square west to the North Canton City ball fields was completed in 2002 by Stark Park trail crews. Funding was provided by Maytag foundation, McKinley Development, Walsh University, the City of North Canton, the Hoover Company, the Stark County Park District, and the Friends of Stark Parks. Parking and trail access is available from Washington Square and the North Canton ball fields. Incoporating the sidewalk on the north side of Maple Street with the Hoover Park Trail provides a 2.2-mile pedestrian loop.
