MAHONING VALLEY TRAILDeer Creek Reservoir and Gaskill Dr. NE in Alliance
July 2013--The Greenbower St. bridge is scheduled to be removed and replaced from July 29 to Dec. 28, 2013. The on-road trail connection using Greenbower Ave. to Rockhill Ave. will be closed for the duration of the project. There will not be a detour route.
This trail begins at Deer Creek Reservoir (14514 Price St. NE, Alliance, OH 44641) west of Rt. 225 and continues to Gaskill Dr. Parking lot just north of Earley Hill Park. The route includes 260 foot free span bridge over Deer Creek, 100 foot boardwalk under Rt. 225, and an on-road section using Greenbower St. and Rockhill Ave. Future plans will move the trail off the road and south to the City of Alliance.
This scenic trail offers fishing access to the Mahoning River and a great view of a bottom land hardwood forest. Spring flowers are abundant along the trail and include jack in the pulpit, false solomon's seal, and swamp buttercup.
The Mahoning Valley Trail has been adopted by the Rotary Club of Alliance, the club sponsors cleanup projects along the trail throughout the year.

The Stark County Park District prohibits the use of motorized vehicles in this park and on its trails. Sections of trail may not be suitable for wheelchair access. Weather may impact the accessibility of trails, always use caution.
