FRIENDS OF STARK PARKS

Our mission
Friends of Stark Parks is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the development and use of Stark County Park District parks, trails, facilities, educational programs, and events.

Our vision is to be the community leader in promoting the responsible use of Stark County’s natural resources; in educating our community and enlisting its involvement in conservation education; and in supporting facilities and programs available through the Stark County Park District.

Our goal is to support the Stark County Park District as a partner in preserving and protecting the quality of life for all who live, work, and play in Stark County through fundraising, grants seeking, volunteerism and promotions.

We invite your involvement as a Friend and volunteer.

The Friends of Stark Parks sponsor a Casino Night in March and Canalway Classic 5K Run and Walk on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in August. Other projects have included the installation of sandstone benches along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, planting of trees in many parks, purchasing the costume for the park district's frog mascot, FeLeap, and contributing funds to the Exploration Gateway and wildlife rehabilitation caging and food storage buildings.

Meetings for the Board of The Friends of Stark Parks are held monthly.
