Animals of Ohio
Learn about native Ohio wildlife from yesterday and today. See live animals and learn about their adaptations.
Ohio Birds of Prey
Learn about native Ohio birds of prey. See live birds and investigate the adaptations they have that make them unique and allow them to survive in their habitats.
The Ohio & Erie Canalway
Ground was broken for the Ohio & Erie Canal on July 4, 1825 connecting the East Coast to the heartland of a young United States. The O & E Canal literally, economically, and culturally changed the landscape of the region. Learn the impact of the Ohio & Erie Canal made on our local area, the region, and the country. Find out the innovative ways Stark Parks is using the Canalway and Towpath today.
Wildlife Rehabilitation: Saving Injured and Orphaned Wildlife
The trained staff and volunteer veterinarians care for 2,000 plus injured and orphaned native Ohio animals each year with the goal of releasing them back to their natural environment. View some of the non-releasable animals that have come into the Sanders Center, hear case stories, and see behind the scenes, which due to permit restrictions must be closed to public viewing.
K-2nd:
Nurturing Nature
This program examines the basic needs of all living things and the difference between wild and domestic animals. Students will be introduced to the needs of injured and abandoned wildlife while in our care at the Stark Parks Sanders Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and view non-releasable live animals from the center.
3rd-5th:
What's for Dinner?
With class participation and live animals, this program will bring to life the links between all living things in an ecosystem discussing adaptations, food chains, and food webs. Optional activities can be conducted before, during, and/or after program!
6th-8th:
Critter Communities
Students will investigate live animals' adaptations in order to determine their place in the food chain by evaluating their adaptations. Optional activities can be conducted before, during, and/or after program!
6th-12th:
Environmental Careers
This program highlights the little known variety of careers available in the environmental field. From chemistry to forestry, opportunities to investigate our natural areas abound. Resources for further investigation will be provided.

Program Options & Teacher Basics
Learn about the programs Stark Parks has to offer and how as teachers you can best utilize them in your classroom and with your curriculum. Explore ways to prepare your students and the choices for pre and post program activities. There will be time for questions as well. This 30 minute program is free. Please call for multiple programs or programs needing to be more than 30 minutes for fees.
