EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Grades 6-8
Problem Solving: Naturally
Our natural world is changing daily. How do we make decisions about protecting our environment? This program focuses on some of the pressing environmental concerns of our local area and how to manage them. Students will develop a solution for an ecological problem in the area.
Critter Communities
Every living thing has adaptations that allow it to survive in its habitat. These adaptations give each organism a role or niche in its community. Students will investigate dioramas and living animals in order to determine their place in the food chain. Students will also make a "kid pyramid" demonstrating the interaction of species within their ecosystem. Students will create an imaginary animal and write a story about its role in the environment. This topic can also be covered with a specific presentation focusing on mammals, birds, reptiles, or amphibians.
